A cup of tea with Claire - A fantastic day with inspirational people
So an early start for me but I'd do it all over again to support this young inspiration volunteer, Megan.
Hi all, what a day!
So an early start for me but I'd do it all over again to support this young inspiration volunteer, Megan. Megan is the sister of Mia who had a dream with us a few years ago, she lives with cerebral palsy. I honestly have not met a family who, despite what they face daily with Mia's condition, give their heart and soul to helping other children's dreams. Megan, organised this hill walk a few months back and rallied a team of over 20 to take part today, she has supported and encouraged all to fundraise.
I met the team just after 11 ( typical Claire fashion, I got lost and ended up in a military base, oops!!) and we started the hike up Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales. It was a scorcher of a day and when we finally made it to the top we were met with beautiful views and hundreds of wasps!!
We presented Megan with her dream ambassador trophy which she was delighted with and proud to represent dreams as a young ambassador! A year ago we met the family at the hockey, Megan was so shy she wouldn't talk, I'm sure Michael will agree, her involvement and volunteering with dreams has been incredible, she is now a bubbly chatty young lady that talks with confidence and is passionate about her work with dreams, her mum said that her volunteering has really changed her.
The past year the family have raised over £10k for dreams. Spending this day with this amazing family has blew me away and I can't wait to support Mia in her challenge on Saturday at this year's ice hockey. I also feel so privileged to have built up this relationship with this family, I know no matter what the future holds, I will always stay in touch with the Thorne's.
