Bake-tastic in Bournemouth

All members of the Poole Bournemouth team baked their finest cakes, cookies and muffins for our first official event of 2017!

The #DreamMakers on the sunny south coast in Poole and Bournemouth grabbed their aprons and baked a delicious selection of sweet treats to raise money and awareness of DCT in Bournemouth University.  All members of the Poole Bournemouth team baked their finest cakes, cookies and muffins for our first official event of 2017!

As most of our small but mighty team are current students at Bournemouth University we thought this would be a great way to not only raise awareness, but potentially grow our team. The bake sale started at 12pm and by 1pm almost all the cakes had gone (clearly our excellent baking skills!) and the remaining few were quickly snapped up before we closed up shop. It was great to see that our efforts paid off and we raised a total of £55, as well as some real interest amongst the student body.

This bake sale has kicked off our timeline of events over the next few months to help shine a light on Dreams Come True here in Poole and Bournemouth.

Next month we’ll be visiting the Bere Regis Beavers colony to help with their Beaver’s Disability awareness Badge. We think this will be a great way to introduce the charity to the children in a fun and informative way. They’re already proving to be little DCT advocates, raising money for the charity over the past few weeks in preparation!

Later in the year the team will be out in force in Bournemouth town centre for collections, and then the bravest of our bunch are doing a team skydive taking place in May! We’ll also be working with one of the local gyms in Poole for a cycle challenge where half of the team will cycle the distance from Poole to a dream destination.

We have a few more events up our sleeves for the rest of summer but we are looking forward to spreading the word and helping more dreams come true. In the meantime, you’ll find us in the gym, signing up for the next spinning class!
