Margaret and Mike Wharton
Margaret and Mike Wharton's son Nick was given his first London Marathon entry by Dreams Come True and in many subsequent years he continued to raise thousands for Dreams Come True in marathons both in the UK and abroad. Nick never knew that Dreams Come True were based in Midhurst at that time. When Margaret and Mike chose to retire to Midhurst they were delighted to discover that Dreams Come True were literally just around the corner. Sadly Nick was killed by a falling tree while he was training for the 2010 London Marathon. It was natural that Mike and Margaret would want to continue Nick's legacy and support Dreams Come True.
In 2011 they travelled to Kenya to visit a school in the Highlands where Nick had taught. They were able to present the school with Dreams Come True running vests and T-shirts. The sports master at the school was Samson Kimobwa who was one of the first of the great Kenyan runners. In fact he had broken David Bedford's 10km world record in 1977. Ironically Nick had met David Bedford when running the London marathon for Dreams Come True.
