Laura Hamilton to support Dream Tea campaign
Television presenter and mum Laura Hamilton to support children's charity, Dreams Come True’s annual fundraising campaign Dream Tea 2015.
Dreams Come True, 5th March 2015 - Dreams Come True today announces that TV presenter and inspirational mum, Laura Hamilton, is to be a Dream Tea ambassador, joining the annual fundraising campaign’s other ambassadors, including Miranda Gore Browne from the Great British Bake Off. As part of her role, Laura will help promote Dream Tea week, held from 15th to 21st June, asking the nation to grab friends, family and colleagues, pop the kettle on, add some cake and biscuits and raise funds to help make dreams come true for children and young people with serious and life-limiting conditions.
Laura – who is also expecting her second child – will also host a Dream Tea baby shower, where she’ll invite friends and family to come along and donate money rather than baby gifts. Great British Bake Off’s Miranda Gore Browne will also be there, baking and decorating pretty cakes and biscuits and stirring up her sugar crafting magic.
Laura is currently presenting Channel 4’s ‘A Place in the Sun’ and also presents ‘Fort Boyard’ for ITV. With a passion for property, Laura has been renovating houses since the age of 19. In 2014 she presented ‘Beat my Build’ on Channel 4, where participants renovated their properties aiming to achieve the biggest profit to win a cash prize and most recently she has joined the presenting team of ‘Cowboy Builders and Bodge Jobs’ on Channel 5 that is currently in production.
Laura started her career in television at 18 years of age as a runner at Channel 4. She quickly progressed as an Assistant Floor Manager and worked on a variety of shows including TOTP, Big Brother and The Games to name but a few. She moved to the ‘other side of the camera’ four years later appearing as Melody in CITV’s ‘Fun Song Factory’ alongside JLS’ Aston Merrygold.
After several years working as a children’s TV Presenter on CITV, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, Laura starred in what was one of ITV’s most popular shows, ‘Dancing on Ice’ in 2011. With her daredevil attitude, sheer determination and her lust for speed Laura was eventually crowned runner up. In 2014, just 4 weeks after giving birth to her son she took part in the Channel 4 series ‘The Jump’ and admits this was one of the most incredible experiences to date.
Laura said, “It is a privilege to work with Dreams Come True helping raise awareness of Dream Tea 2015. I’m very excited about hosting a Dream Tea baby shower. What better reason to gather friends and family. As a mother and TV presenter, I understand the power of dreams. I feel that the work Dreams Come True does is truly inspirational.”
Peter Newman, Chief Executive, Dreams Come True, says: “Having Laura on board for this year’s Dream Tea gives us a fantastic opportunity to work with an inspirational presenter. We’re overwhelmed by Laura’s support, especially by hosting her own Dream Tea event.”
A Dream Tea fundraising event can be as big or small as the host desires, from a ten-minute cuppa to an indulgent vintage-inspired tea party. It’s an easy way to raise money, which will make a huge difference to the lives of some very special children and their families. Dream Tea week will take place 15th – 21st June, but people are encouraged to host Dream Teas at any time of the year.
