Dreams awarded a grant from the People's Postcode Lottery
Postcode Community Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of the People's Postcode Lottery. Our project received £15,000 from the trust to develop our volunteering program as described below.
The grant from the People’s Post Code Lottery will enable us to expand the recently established volunteer programme. This funding will increase and enhance opportunities for us to broaden our volunteer support throughout England.
It will involve promoting volunteering opportunities; recruiting new volunteers; and providing volunteers with the necessary training and support.
Volunteers are encouraged to form groups and work together to run events to raise awareness of the services we offer and ensure more families benefit from having a dream. They will also be encouraged to organise bespoke events, bringing together some of the families and young people that we support, who may not have had any other opportunity to meet. From the charities history, we have learned that dreams provide a number of benefits for seriously and life-limited children, young people and their families, which is why we are working with volunteers to generate more referrals to our service. The Network of volunteers we aim to grow further will enable us to now for the first time, reach children and young people in areas we have not had such a strong presence.
Thank you to everyone who plays the Postcode Lottery and the trust for awarding us this grant.
