A cup of tea with Lucy Garner
Finishing the 2016 season not being selected for the world championships was very disappointing for me but it made me want to come back even stronger ready for the 2017 season. I had a good month off the bike enjoying my time off with friends and family.
I’ve been back on the bike now for a few months and my fitness is coming back to where I want it to be. I’m still doing a lot of hours on the bike but I’m also concentrating on getting the speed back into my legs and getting my sprint up the speed again.
I’ve had a couple of training camps in Lanzarote and Gran Canaria where I could really lift the hours on the bike, as the weather was amazing. That helps to get the endurance back quickly and keeps the motivation high knowing you are able to train in the warmth whilst it is cold back at home.
My season will start at the end of Feb. It will be a tough and nervous race but I still have over a month to prepare for it and I know I will be ready.
