A cup of tea with Georgie Hermitage
We caught up with ambassador Georgie on her fabulous 2016.
2016 has been way beyond my expectations to win double gold over my two individual races was amazing and was a big relief under the pressure to be able to perform when it mattered most. The relay Silver was a real mix of emotions as we pb'd but lost the gold to a new formidable Chinese team.
I feel I have learnt a lot about myself this year through both the positives and the negatives, I found an inner strength and hardened resilience that I never knew I had...but maybe those traits only ever show themselves when the things we value most are threatened.....when standing on the startline knowing this was my one opportunity to keep my promise to my family...my body just found that little bit more on the day.
Anyway now 2016 is over and the 2017 IPC world championships in London is my new goal with my first competition in March it's full steam ahead in training to come out stronger and faster for the season ahead.
To be announced on the new years honours list to receive an MBE for services to athletics was a huge honour and I am truly humbled...it makes all the hard work and sacrifices justified.
